San Antonio – St. Mary’s University tennis players Rodrigo Lacayo, Troy Neighbors and Hayley Harris were named All-Heartland Conference for their play during the 2007-08 season it was announced by the league office.

Lacayo (Sr., Managua, Nicaragua) played number one singles and doubles for the Rattlers this season. He posted the best record on the team in singles, going 11-9, including a 9-7 record at number one singles. He teamed with Neighbors (Sr., Corpus Christi) to go 10-7 at number one doubles, the best mark on the squad in doubles.

Neighbors played primarily at number two singles this season, going 8-10 overall; including 7-6 at number two singles. He also teamed with Lacayo at number one doubles. The all-conference honor was the second of Neighbors’ career, as he also picked up the honor as a sophomore in 2006.

The Rattler men qualified for the Heartland Conference Tournament this season after finishing 5-13 during the regular season. Head coach Ian Ward will have his work cut out for him this offseason as he loses four of six players from the 2007-08 squad.

Harris (Sr., El Campo) was the lone senior on the Rattler squad in 2008 and picked up All-Heartland honors for the first time. She went 5-12 in singles, playing at number two and teamed with Morgan Riddle (Fr., El Paso) to go 9-12 at number two doubles.

The St. Mary’s women advanced to the semifinals of the Heartland Conference Tennis Championships and had a 6-15 overall record this season. St. Mary’s returns seven of eight players from the 2007-08 season.
