San Antonio – The St. Mary’s University men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball teams will all be in action at home this week as the fall sports season enters the home stretch. On Friday all three teams will be in action, while both soccer teams will be at home on Sunday.

The women’s soccer team (3-10-1 overall, 2-5 Heartland Conference) will play two home games this week, taking on the University of Texas-Permian Basin on Friday at 1 p.m. The Rattlers lost to UTPB earlier this season, 2-0, in Odessa. On Sunday the Rattlers will host Newman University at Noon. The game will be the final home game of the season for the Rattlers. St. Mary’s was defeated by Newman, 2-0, in Wichita, Kan., earlier in the season. Amanda McMullan (Sr., Allen) was named Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her play against Dallas Baptist University and leads the team with five goals this season. St. Mary’s has won two games in a row.

The men’s soccer team (3-8, 0-6) will also host two games this week, playing on Friday and Sunday. The Rattlers will face Texas-Permian Basin on Friday at 3:30 p.m. UTPB won 1-0 in Odessa the first meeting this season. On Sunday the Rattlers will host Newman starting at 2 p.m. Newman defeated the Rattlers earlier this season, 2-0, in Wichita, Kan. The Rattlers have lost their last four games in a row.

The volleyball team (8-12, 5-4) will play three matches this week, including two key Heartland Conference matchups as they fight to qualify for the Heartland Conference Tournament. The Rattlers will travel to Austin on Thursday to face St. Edward’s University at 7 p.m. They will follow that up with a non-conference home match against East Central University on Friday at 5 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena. They will wrap up their three-day stretch of matches on Saturday when they travel to Laredo to face Texas A&M-International University at 4 p.m. Sarah Moreno (Sr., Pearland) and Sondra Cui (Fr., Schertz) were honored by the Heartland Conference for their play last week.
