San Antonio – St. Mary’s University goalkeeper Brittany Sullivan was named Heartland Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her play against West Texas A&M University and Northeastern State University, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Sullivan (Fr., San Antonio) helped lead St. Mary’s to an undefeated week. For the week she had a 0.90 goals-against average and made 16 saves. She faced 38 shots, including 18 on goal in the two games, but let just two get past her. Against regionally ranked West Texas A&M she made nine saves in 110 minutes of play in a 1-1 tie. She followed that up with seven more saves against Northeastern State in the Rattlers 2-1 win.

For the season she has a 1.80 goals-against average with 22 saves. Sullivan is the first Rattler to be honored by the Heartland Conference this season.

St. Mary’s is currently 1-4-1 overall this season. The Rattlers will return to action on Friday when they travel to Wichita, Kan., to face Newman University in a Heartland Conference match.
