San Antonio – St. Mary’s University men’s golfer Sam Jernigan was named Heartland Conference men’s golfer of the week for his play at the St. Mary’s University Bruce Williams Memorial, it was announced by the league office on Friday.
Jernigan (Fr., San Antonio) tied for 17th place at the Tournament after firing a three-round total of 222 (75-74-73). The finish was Jernigan’s first top-20 finish and came in just his second collegiate tournament. For the season he has a 74.6 stroke average, second best on the team.
Jernigan and the Rattlers will return to action on Monday, Oct. 6, when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz., to participate in the Grand Canyon Invitational.
