San Antonio – St. Mary’s University softball player Sade Moore was named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week for her performance last week against Oklahoma Panhandle State University, it was announced by the conference office.

Moore (Jr., Angleton) had perhaps her best week as a Rattler, hitting a nearly perfect .846 with two RBI, six runs scored and four stolen bases for the Rattlers in their four-game sweep of Oklahoma Panhandle State. She had hits in all four games, including two three-hit games and her first career four-hit game. She went 3-of-4 in the opener, and was also 3-of-4 in the third game of the series. In the final game of the series she came to the plate four times and singled all four times, driving home a run, scoring three runs and stealing four bases.

For the season she is hitting .450 with three doubles, 14 RBI, 38 runs scored and 25 stolen bases in 28 attempts. She has a 10-game hitting streak and has base hits in 31 of 40 games this season, including 21 games with two or more hits. During her 10-game hit streak she is hitting an amazing .735 (25-34).

Moore’s award marked the fifth time this season that a Rattler has received Heartland Conference recognition. Malissa Magee (Sr., Katy) has been named Heartland Pitcher of the Week three times, Taryn Munoz (So., Bulverde) has earned Pitcher of the Week honors once, while Sarah Cooper (Sr., Houston) earned Heartland Hitter of the Week honors once.

The Rattler softball team has won five in a row and is 33-7 overall, 8-0 in Heartland Conference play. St. Mary’s will return to action on Friday in a key Heartland Conference doubleheader at Rattler Field against St. Edward’s University at 5 p.m.
