San Antonio – St. Mary’s University men’s basketball coach Jim Zeleznak announced on Sunday the signing of La Vernia native Kevin Kotzur to a national letter of intent to join the Rattlers, starting with the 2008-09 academic year. Roberts is the 12th signee for the Rattlers this offseason.

Kotzur (Fr., 6’8″, F/C, La Vernia) comes to San Antonio with an impressive basketball resume. He played for coach Jim Blackburn at La Vernia High School over the last four years, earning all-district honors twice, all-region honors twice and all-state honors once. As a senior he was an all-district, all-region and all-state pick after scoring 20.9 points and pulling down 10 rebounds per game. He helped lead La Vernia to the area finals as a junior and the regional finals as a senior. Off the court he was a member of the Honor Roll.

St. Mary’s finished the 2007-08 season with a 17-13 record and won the Heartland Conference Tournament title. They fell to Tarleton State University in the first round of the NCAA South Central Region Tournament.
