San Antonio – Arlynda Flores hit two homeruns to lead the way offensively, while Malissa Magee and Taryn Munoz each picked up wins on the mound, helping 23rd-ranked St. Mary’s University to a sweep of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, 6-0, 9-5, in non-conference softball action Thursday at Rattler Field.

Flores (So., Uvalde) went a combined 3-of-5 with a double, two homeruns, four RBI and three runs scored. Her three-run shot in game two in the fourth inning gave the Rattlers a 9-1 lead. She is now tied for the team lead with six homeruns this season.

Magee (Sr., Katy) was dominant on the mound again for the Rattlers, tossing her fifth shutout in her last six starts and her 14th shutout overall this season. Magee allowed just two hits, while striking out seven in the complete game victory. Only one base runner advanced past first base in the game. She improved to 27-5 this season and ranks second in the nation in wins. In the second game Munoz (So., Bulverde) improved to 11-3 this season, allowing just one unearned run on six hits.

Kelcy Walker (Sr., San Antonio) went 3-for-3 with a solo homerun in the second game. Sade Moore (Jr., Angleton) and Nikki Flores (Jr., Friendswood) each had three hits in the doubleheader.

With the sweep St. Mary’s improved to 39-9 overall this season and has won 15 of their last 18 games. TAMUK fell to 22-26 with the losses. The Rattlers will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader at Rattler Field against Texas A&M International University.
