San Antonio – St. Mary’s University volleyball player Sondra Cui was named Heartland Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week for her play against Oklahoma Panhandle State University and Newman University, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday.

Cui (Fr., Schertz) earned the honor after averaging 10.43 assists and 1.29 digs per set last week. Against OPSU she had her highest three-set assist total for the season with 37, helping the Rattlers to a sweep of the Aggies. She followed that up by picking up 36 assists and nine digs against the Jets on Saturday in the Rattlers four-set win.

For the season Cui leads the Rattlers with 8.93 assists and is fourth on the team with 2.59 digs per set. She has had six double-doubles this season. Cui is the first Rattler to be honored by the conference this season.

St. Mary’s is 5-7 overall and 2-0 in Heartland Conference play this season. The Rattlers will return to action on Thursday, when they host St. Edward’s University at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
