San Antonio – Braxton Watson tossed five scoreless innings and Jonathon Cisneros continued his hot early season hitting, driving home five runs, leading St. Mary’s University to a 12-0 win against Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Heartland Conference baseball action Saturday morning at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium.

Watson (Jr., Spring) was in control throughout, allowing just five baserunners in five innings. He struck out four in earning his first win as a Rattler. Adrian Tarango (Fr., San Antonio) came on and pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

The Rattlers started to break open a one-run game in the third inning. With one out Jonathon Rosfeld (Fr., San Antonio) singled and Danny Cantu (Jr., Laredo) was hit by a pitch. One out later Cisneros (So., San Antonio) doubled to bring home Rosfeld. David Vaio (Jr., San Antonio) followed with a single to score Cantu and Colin Stock (Fr., Klamath Falls, Ore.) made it a 4-0 game with a single to score Cisneros.

The following inning the Rattlers put the game out of reach. Nine batters came to the plate that inning with St. Mary’s scoring six runs on five hits. Cisneros had the crowning blow, a three-run homerun to right that made it a 10-0 game. Cantu and Michael Brzezinski (Jr., Helotes) added RBI singles in the fifth to wrap up the scoring.

All nine Rattlers starters picked up at least one hit in the game, with Cisneros going 3-of-4 with a double, homerun, five RBI and two runs scored. Brzezinski and Bobby Freeman (Sr., Fair Oaks Ranch) each had two hits to pace the 15-hit attack.

With the win the Rattlers swept the three-game series against the Aggies and improved to 3-1 overall, 3-0 in Heartland play. OPSU fell to 1-5, 0-3. The Rattlers will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Tarleton State University in a single game at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium, starting at 3 p.m.
