San Antonio–Jonathon Cisneros went 4-for-4, but it wasn’t enough as Texas A&M University-Kingsville defeated St. Mary’s University, 5-2, in non-conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Nolan Ryan Field.

Cisneros (So., San Antonio) was a perfect 5-of-5 in reaching base as he also drew one walk in the game. However, his teammates combined to produce just two other hits against Javelina pitching. TAMUK only picked up four hits in the game, but a two-run double by Chase Myrick in the fifth gave the Javelinas the lead and they added two more runs in the sixth to take a commanding lead and the Rattlers left 12 runners on base in the game in the loss.

Ben Odom (So., San Antonio) took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits and five walks in 5 2/3 innings of work. He dropped to 2-1 on the season. Bobby Gonsoulin picked up the win, allowing one run on five hits in six innings of work to improve to 1-1.

With the loss, the Rattlers have now dropped four straight games and are 9-5 overall. TAMUK improved to 10-4. St. Mary’s will return to action on Friday when they host Newman University in a Heartland Conference doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
