STEPHENVILLE–Michael Brzezinski and Jonathon Rosfeld each had five hits, while Jonathon Cisneros drove in six runs as St. Mary’s University defeated Tarleton State University, 20-12, in non-conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon at Cecil Barlow Field.

Brzezinski (Jr., Helotes) and Rosfeld (Fr., San Antonio) accounted for half of the Rattlers hits with five each of St. Mary’s 20 in the game. Rosfeld set a season high with his five hits, which included his first collegiate homerun. He drove home three runs and scored six. Brzezinski also went 5-of-6 with three RBI and four runs scored, along with two doubles. Both players also had two stolen bases.

Of course no Rattler offensive explosion this season would be complete without the help of Jonathon Cisneros (So., San Antonio). Cisneros went just 2-of-7, lowering his season batting average to .456, but he made the hits count, smacking a three-run homerun in the third and a two-run double in the eighth. He brought home seven runs in all. The homerun was his seventh of the season.

Eight of the nine St. Mary’s starting players had at least one base hit in the game, with five picking up two or more.

On the mound Ben Odom (So., San Antonio) came on in relief to pick up his third win of the season against just one loss. He allowed five runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings of work. Michael Villarreal (Jr., Eagle Pass) had a strong outing finishing the game with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

With the win the Rattlers have now won three in a row and are 15-6 overall this season. Tarleton State fell to 11-14 this season. St. Mary’s will return to action this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Jefferson City, Mo., for a three-game Heartland Conference series against Lincoln University. Friday’s doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon.
