San Antonio – The St. Mary’s University volleyball team returns home from a successful road trip to host St. Edward’s University, while the men’s soccer teams looks to get back on track when they host Northeastern State University this week at home.

The volleyball team (5-7 overall, 2-0 Heartland Conference) looks to build on a perfect 2-0 road trip last week, when they return home to face St. Edward’s University (4-8, 1-1) and Texas A&M International University (2-11, 0-2) this week. This week’s matches take on even more importance after a look at the Heartland Conference standings. The Rattlers are one of three undefeated teams in the league, along with Dallas Baptist University and the University of the Incarnate Word. St. Edward’s is just one game back, while TAMIU is two games behind. Both SEU and TAMIU advanced to the Heartland Conference Tournament last season.

Thursday’s match will be at 7 p.m. in Bill Greehey Arena against the Hilltoppers, while the Rattlers and the Dustdevils will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Sondra Cui (Fr., Schertz) was named Heartland Conference Setter of the Week for her play last week against Oklahoma Panhandle State University and Newman University.

The men’s soccer team will try to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Incarnate Word last week when they host Northeastern State University in a non-conference matchup Sunday at noon at St. Mary’s Soccer Field. St. Mary’s (1-4, 0-3) will be on the road for three of the next four games after Sunday.

The women’s soccer team will be on the road this week for two matches, playing at Newman University on Friday at 7 p.m., and then traveling to the University of Central Oklahoma on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Rattlers are 1-4-1 overall after an undefeated homestand over the weekend.

The men’s golf team will host its lone tournament of the season, the Bruce Williams Memorial Invitational, on Monday and Tuesday, September 29-30 at The Dominion Country Club. The women’s golf team will be on the road at the Dallas Baptist Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
