Hundreds of St. Mary’s University students, faculty, staff and alumni will come together Saturday, Jan. 27 to continue the University’s tradition of service by lending a hand to 18 local service organizations by working on 32 separate projects.
The annual event, called Continuing the Heritage, is held at the start of each new semester and allows the St. Mary’s community to offer their support and sweat to non-profit, charitable organizations throughout the San Antonio community.
The event will start with a welcome address from University President Charles L. Cotrell, Ph.D., at noon at the fountain in front of St. Louis Hall. Volunteers will then break into groups and spend the afternoon helping a variety of organizations doing work ranging from fun camps for kids to house painting. Those volunteers who will be working at the Habitat for Humanity building sites will start their day at 7:30 a .m.
Continuing the Heritage is sponsored by the St. Mary’s Service Learning Cetner and the Marianist Leadership Program.
