Rivalry Week Set to Start for St. Mary’s Athletics

San Antonio – Games against rivals St. Edward’s University and the University of the Incarnate Word highlight the upcoming sports week for St. Mary’s University Athletics.

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the Rattlers will face St. Edward’s in women’s soccer, volleyball and men’s soccer in Austin in Heartland Conference matchups.

The women’s soccer team (4-3 overall, 1-0 Heartland) will have a tough task when they take on the 14th ranked Hilltoppers at 3 p.m. The Rattlers will then host regionally ranked Texas A&M University-Commerce on Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Soccer Field.

The volleyball team, coming off a pair of Heartland Conference wins over the weekend, looks to remain undefeated in league play when they face the Hilltoppers on Thursday at 7 p.m. St. Mary’s will remain on the road for another Heartland matchup when they travel to Laredo to face Texas A&M International University on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The men’s soccer team will face both of their major conference rivals when they travel to Austin on Friday to take on the Hilltoppers at 5 p.m. in a key regional and Heartland Conference matchup. They will then take on the sixth-ranked University of Incarnate Word on Sunday at 7 p.m. in Boerne.

The Rattler cross country team will be back in action after a three-week layoff on Friday when they compete in the University of Texas-San Antonio/Rene Romo Classic at Brooks Air Force Base. The women’s race will start at 6:45 p.m.
