San Antonio–Marcus Hill scored 17 points in his return to the court, while Latez Williams had 20 points, helping St. Mary’s to shoot 63 percent from the field as the Rattlers rolled past Paul Quinn College, 86-71, in non-conference men’s basketball action Saturday night at Bill Greehey Arena.

Hill (Sr., Longview) hit on 8-of-13 shots from the field and pulled down eight rebounds in his first action this season. Williams (Sr., Hamilton, Ohio) led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. This shooting helped the Rattlers hit on 61.7 percent (37-60) of their shots from the field. They held PQC to just 37.7 percent (23-61) from the field and forced 19 Tiger turnovers.

Five Rattlers reached double figures in the game with Nick Morey (Jr., Belpre, Ohio) scoring 12 points and pulling down nine rebounds, while Robert Owens (Jr., Oakwood) and Rod Bellard (Jr., Beaumont). No Paul Quinn players scored in double figures in the game.

St. Mary’s started the game by going on an 8-0 run and never looked back, leading by as much as 19 points. The Rattlers never trailed in the game.

With the win the Rattlers improved to 5-3 this season, while Paul Quinn fell to 6-6. St. Mary’s will return to action on Monday in the first round of the River City Classic. St. Mary’s will host the 10-team, two-day tournament, with games at 10:30, 12:45, 3, 5:15 and 7:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. The Rattlers will take on 17th-ranked Pittsburg State University on Monday night.
