GOODWELL, Okla. – Malissa Magee tossed her third one-hitter this season and Mary K Pederson drove home two runs to lead the offense as St. Mary’s University defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Heartland Conference softball action Saturday afternoon.

Magee (Jr., Houston) allowed just one hit, a leadoff single in the first inning by Cathy Daza, and walked two in the complete game shutout. She struck out 11 while improving to 19-7 this season. The shutout was her 11th this season, just four off the St. Mary’s school record. She has three one-hitters and two no-hitters this season.

Kelcy Walker (Jr., San Antonio) scored on an error in the first inning to give the Rattlers a 1-0 lead. In the second inning Pederson (Jr., Houston) put the game out of reach with a two-run double that scored Nikki Flores (So., Friendswood) and Lindsay Magaro (Sr., Elmendorf).

Rachel Hughes took the loss for the Aggies, falling to 2-15 on the season. She allowed three runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out three in seven innings.

With the win the Rattlers improved to 29-14 overall and 6-3 in Heartland Conference play. OPSU fell to 6-27 and 0-5. The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader Saturday, but did not due to field conditions. They will play a doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 11 a.m.
