San Antonio – St. Mary’s University pitcher Malissa Magee continued her domination of the Heartland Conference this season, earning HC Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after going 5-2 for the week of March 12-18, it was announced by the conference office on Monday.

Magee (Jr., Houston) was in top form, going 5-2 with four shutouts, and a 0.56 ERA in 37.1 innings of work. In the first game of the week she allowed just two hits, while striking out 10 in a complete game shutout of Lincoln. She came on in relief the following day to pick up the win against the Blue Tigers. She then tossed her second straight shutout, allowing just two hits and two walks, while striking out five for the win in the second game of the day.

On Thursday against Mesa State she set a St. Mary’s school record with 15 strikeouts and allowed just one base runner to reach in a complete game one-hitter. She finished off the week with a dominating one-hitter against #21 St. Edward’s. She allowed just a base hit in the sixth inning and a leadoff walk in the first. In between she retired 15 straight batters. For the week she allowed just 15 hits, five walks and three earned runs in 37.1 innings, while striking out 43.

For the season Magee is 18-7 with 17 complete games and 10 shutouts in 154.2 innings of work. She has struck out 167 batters, while only walking 22 over that time. Opposing batters are hitting just .159 against her. She has already been named Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week four times out of the six awards the conference has given this season.

Magee and the Rattlers (28-14 overall, 5-3 Heartland Conference) are coming off a two-game sweep of #11 Texas A&M University-Kingsville in which Magee tossed her third career no-hitter in the second game. St. Mary’s will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Stephenville to face Tarleton State University in a doubleheader, starting at 2 p.m.
