KINGSVILLE – Natalie Gamez and Rachel Jones combined for 43 points, but Concordia University-St. Paul outscored St. Mary’s University by 12 points in the second half to pull away for a 91-72 win over the Rattlers, on the second day of the Texas A&M-Kingsville Thanksgiving Tournament, Saturday at the Steinke Center.

Gamez (Jr., San Antonio) made 5-of-11 shots from the field and 12-of-14 from the free throw line to score a game-high 24 points. She also pulled down six rebounds in her 28 minutes of play. Jones (Jr., Little rock, Ark.) made 7-of-11 shots from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line to post 19 points. The only other Rattler to score in double figures was Farren Fox (So., Marble Falls) with 11 points off the bench.

Concordia had five players score in double figures, led by Amanda Behnke, who had 24 points. As a team the Bears shot 50.9 percent (29-57) from the field in the game and made 56.5 percent (13-23) of their three-pointers. St. Mary’s outrebounded the Bears 40-31.

With the loss the Rattlers fell to 1-4 overall this season, while Concordia-St. Paul improved to 4-0. The Rattlers will return to action on Wednesday when they host East Central University at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
