San Antonio – Amanda Anderson fired a first round 76 to rank second overall and help St. Mary’s University to a third place standing in the team competition on the first day of the Lady Rattler Roundup women’s golf tournament, played Monday at the Pecan Valley Golf Club.

Anderson (So., San Antonio) shot a four-over par 76 to rank second behind first round leader, Emily Kvinta of St. Edward’s. Kvinta shot an even-par 72 in the first round. Four players are tied for third overall with a 77: Beth Ann Nussbaum of West Texas A&M, Marcie Hopson of Grand Canyon, Jamie Shirley of Dallas Baptist and Katie Miller of Northeastern State.

Tied for seventh place overall is St. Mary’s Jessica Harbin (Sr., Tuscola) with a 78. Elizabeth Brandt (Sr., Scottsdale, Ariz.) is tied for 41st with an 87, while Marie Hulsey (Fr., El Paso) is tied for 60th with a first-round 91.

St. Edward’s leads the way in the team competition with a 315, six strokes ahead of Northeastern State with 321. St. Mary’s is third with a 332, Tarleton State if fourth with a 333, Grand Canyon is fifth with a 334, Western New Mexico is sixth with a 335, Cameron is seven at 336, Dallas Baptist is eighth with a 339, Central Oklahoma is ninth with a 340, Texas A&M-Commerce is 10th with a 342, Hawaii-Hilo is 11th with a 346, West Texas A&M is 12th with a 350, Incarnate Word is 13th with a 359, Southwestern Oklahoma State and Newman are tied for 14th with 372s, Texas Lutheran is 16th with a 374, Montana State-Billings is 17th with a 381 and Texas A&M-International is 18th with a 461.

Play will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of the Lady Rattler Roundup at the Pecan Valley Golf Club. The first players will tee off at 8:15 a.m.
