MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Jamie Amoretti and Aaron Welch each placed in the top-10 individually and St. Mary’s University fired the second lowest round of the day, good for a tie for sixth place in a tightly contested field at the University of North Alabama Spring Classic, played at the Robert Trent Jones of the Shoals Fighting Joe course on Tuesday.

Amoretti (Sr., San Antonio) shot a final round 74 to finish at 147 (73-74) and tie for ninth place overall. Welch (Sr., Del Rio) also shot a final round 74 to with Amoretti for ninth (73-74). Mitch Boles of the University of Central Oklahoma won medalist honors with a two-round score of 138, defeating Will Wilcox of Clayton State University by five strokes.

KC Lim (Sr., San Antonio) finished tied for 27th overall with a score of 150 (77-73), Jimmy Willingham (Jr., San Antonio) tied for 35th with a 151 (77-74) and Preston Akromis (So., San Antonio) was 98th with a 165 (87-78).

Central Oklahoma won the team title with a two-round score of 589. They edged out host University of North Alabama by just one stroke. The University of West Florida and Abilene Christian University tied for third just four strokes back at 593. St. Edward’s University was fifth with a 594, while Lynn University and St. Mary’s University tied for sixth at 595. St. Mary’s second round score of 295 was just one stroke back of St. Edward’s score of 294 on Tuesday, the best score of the day.

The tournament was the final tune-up for the Rattlers prior to the Heartland Conference Tournament, which will take place, starting on April 16 in Dallas.
