San Antonio – St. Mary’s University volleyball player Samantha Weber was named second team All-Southwest Region at middle blocker by Daktronics recently in a vote conducted by Southwest Region Sports Information Directors.
Weber (Jr., Ft. Lupton, Colo.) led the Rattlers in kills per game with 3.85, attack percentage (.306) and blocks per game with 1.17. She ranks second in the Heartland Conference in attack percentage, is fourth in kills per game and is second in blocks per game. She reached double figures in kills 23 times this season in 35 matches, including five matches with 20 or more kills. Her season high came at the Heartland Conference Tournament last week with 27 against Dallas Baptist in the Rattlers five-game win over the Patriots.
She has already been honored several times this season. She was named first team All-Heartland Conference last week by the league. Weber earned HC Offensive Player of the Week honors three times during the season. She also was named to the Heartland Conference Tournament All-Tournament team.
This is the sixth year that Daktronics has sponsored the Division II volleyball All-American and All-Region teams. Daktronics, with headquarters in Brookings, S.D., is an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every level of competition.
Weber and the Rattlers advanced to the Heartland Conference Tournament Championship before falling to Montana State University-Billings. St. Mary’s finished the 2006 season with a 19-16 overall record and 5-5 HC mark, good for third during the regular season.
