San Antonio — Three St. Mary’s student athletes were recognized by the Heartland Conference on Monday for their performances. Sophomores Zach Kucera of baseball, Malissa Magee of softball and Becca Herbst of women’s basketball were all named players of the week.
Kucera, named Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week for baseball, threw three scoreless innings of relief in the Rattlers’ season opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.
Magee, named Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week for softball, posted a 2-1 mark in the 2nd Annual St. Mary’s University College Classic last weekend.
Herbst, named Heartland Conference Co-Player of the Week for women’s basketball, scored 18 points in the Lady Rattlers’ 73-69 overtime victory over crosstown Incarnate Word on Saturday.
