San Antonio – St. Mary’s University men’s basketball player Latez Williams was named Heartland Conference men’s basketball player of the week for his play against Abilene Christian University last week.

Williams (Jr., Hamilton, Ohio) scored a career high and posted his first double-double as a Rattler in St. Mary’s two-point loss to Abilene Christian. Williams hit on 7-of-11 shots from the field to score 18 points, topping his previous career high of 13 points, set against Sul Ross State earlier this season. He also pulled down 10 rebounds to set a season high and give him the double-double, just the second for a Rattler this season.

For the season Williams is averaging 8.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He is hitting on 62.5 percent of his shots from the field.

The Rattlers have dropped three games in a row and are now 4-6 overall this season. St. Mary’s will return to action on Friday, December 29, when they host nationally ranked Tarleton State University at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
