San Antonio – St. Mary’s University men’s basketball player Marcus Hill was named Heartland Conference basketball player of the week for his play against Montana State University-Billings, it was announced by the league on Thursday.

Hill (Jr., Longview) hit his first three shots of the game – all three-pointers – and never let up, hitting on 7-of-12 shots from the field and 4-of-4 from three point range in the win. His previous career high in scoring was 14 points, set against Sul Ross State earlier this season. He was the only Rattler to reach double figures in the game.

For the season Hill is averaging 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, is hitting on 45.0 percent of his shots from the field and 69.2 percent of his shots from three-point range. Hill has reached double figures three times this season for the Rattlers.

St. Mary’s (4-3) returns to action on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. when they host Abilene Christian University at Bill Greehey Arena. The Rattlers have been off since they played Montana State University-Billings on Dec. 8. St. Mary’s is in the midst of a 12-game homestand.
