It was a night to honor a legend, as St. Mary’s paid tribute to Buddy Meyer, head coach of the Rattlers for 27 years.
The rattler team paid tribute with a 80-56 win over Heartland Conference rival St. Edward’s.
Manny Hernandez scored 25 for the Rattlers (19-6. 9-1), and Joe Allen added 18 in the win.
More than 2,700 people showed up to pay tribute to Buddy Meyer. Meyer has been at the helm of the St. Mary’s basketball program since 1978.
Many in the crowd were former players who played with or for Meyer.
