Both the St. Mary’s men’s and women’s basketball teams won their Heartland Conference openers Thursday night at St. Mary’s.
The women (7-7, 1-0) beat Lincoln 69-46 behind Dawn Killian’s 22 points.
The Rattler men (11-5, 1-0) beat Lincoln 76-66 after holding off a furious Lincoln comeback.
The Rattlers led by as much as 23 points in the second half, but Lincoln cut the lead to 4 at one point.
Billy White led the Rattlers with 21 points, including four 3-pointers in a row.
Both teams play at home on Saturday when they host Drury.
