Michele L. Trankina was born in Chicago on August 30, 1953 and died in San Antonio on March 19, 2005. She is survived by her brother, Michael A. Trankina of Los Angeles, and her companion, Dr. Charles N. Weaver. She will also be missed by her miniature dachshunds, Megan, Poppie and Tinkie. She earned a Ph.D. in nutritional physiology from Iowa State University. For 20 years she was a professor of nutrition and pre-med courses at St. Mary’s University.
Dr. Trankina was a nationally-known author, lecturer, and consultant on nutrition. She won many awards as a long-distance runner. She was a loving, valued sister, colleague and friend. A Memorial Service will be conducted in the Guadalupe Chapel of St. Mary’s University on Wednesday, March 23, at 4:00 P.M.
