The St. Mary’s Rattler softball team continued its dominance over the Heartland Conference by winning its fourth-straight conference title with an 8-0 win over UIW Saturday in Austin.

Kym Kling got the win for the Rattlers, improving her record to 22-2. Brittney Ernst came on in relief and picked up the save.

Ernst led the Rattlers with 3 RBIs, all of which came on a three-run double in the seventh inning. The Rattlers (45-10) scored five in that inning to ice the game.

Named to the All-Tournament Team were pitcher Kling, catcher Liz Hunt, Ernst, 3B Veronica Garcia, SS Tiffani Craft and OF Pam Salinas.

In addition to the title, the Rattlers claimed many spots on the All-Conference team.

Senior pitcher Kym Kling won her third-straight Heartland Conference MVP award, and coach Donna Fields earned her third-straight Coach-Of-The-Year award.

Kling made the team as a pitcher. She is joined by catcher Liz Hunt, second baseman Tiffani Craft, shortstop Brittney Ernst, third baseman Veronica Garcia, outfielder Kirsten Simmons, designated player Liz Beyer and at-large player Pam Salinas.

Ernst was also named Freshman Of The Year.
