The St. Mary’s men’s and women’s basketball teams each moved to 1-0 in conference play as the teams beat Rockhurst Thursday night in Kansas City.
The women, led by Erin Griffin’s 18 points, beat Rockhurst 72-53. Eva Christian scored 16 and pulled down 10 for the Lady Rattlers (7-7, 1-0).
The men beat Rochurst 76-74 on a last-second three pointer by Ky O’Dell.
The Rattlers (9-6, 1-0) were led by O’Dell’s 16 points. Billy White and Dadrien Cooper each scored 13 points. White led the team with six rebounds.
The Rattlers led 42-28 at halftime and by as much as 27 points in the second half. Rockhurst battled back to take the lead until O’Dell hit the game winner.
