Women’s Golf Coach Cindy Krause has been appointed to the NCAA D-II women’s golf West regional advisory committee. Krause is in her second year at the helm of the Rattler women’s golf program.

Among the duties regional committee members have during their three-year terms are the gathering and sharing of results for teams within their conference and regions, providing input in the selection of officials and sites for the Division II championships and serving as a sounding-board for the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Committee.

The St. Mary’s Women’s Golf team, ranked third in Division II following the Fall 2002 season, will hit the links again this Spring starting on Feb. 16-18 at the Univeristy of Texas-Pan American Invitational at Cimarron Country Club in Mission. In addition to competing tournaments in Boerne, Pottsboro and Amarillo, the Rattlers will travel to Tega Cay, South Carolina and Windsor, Colorado before competing in the D-II West Regional, May 6-7, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The Rattlers are one of three West Region teams currently in the top ten: #3 St. Mary’s, #9 Texas A&M – Commerce and #10 Western New Mexico. The Rattler women are ranked third with an adjusted scoring average of 78.76 and an average drop score of 86.83 and a 4-0 team record versus Top 25 opponents. St. Mary’s won four of five tournaments this fall, including three of four tournaments with five or more varsity squads. In the Golfstat Cup Standings Senior Jillian Wyne has the best scoring average in D-II and is ranked 63th across all divisions (D-I, D-II, D-III and NAIA) with an adjusted average 3.485 strokes behind the national leader, Katherine Hull of D-I Pepperdine.

The Rattler women, especially Jillian Wyne and her sister, sophomore Nicole Wyne, also rank high in the Golfstat.com’s Division II statistical breakdowns. Jillian Wyne is sixth in Par 3 scoring at 3.19 and freshman Kate Meyer is ninth at 3.22; Jillian Wyne is first in Par 4 Scoring at 4.26 and Nicole Wyne is sixth at 4.40; and Jillian Wyne is first in Par 5 scoring at 4.88. Jillian Wyne leads the division in Subpar Strokes Per Round with 2.40. As a team the Rattlers are fourth in Par 3 Scoring, third in Par 4 Scoring, fifth in Par 5 scoring and second in Subpar Strokes Per Round. As a group, Meyer and her fellow frosh teammates — Clarissa Castellanos, Brandi Edwards, Amy Pearson, Jennifer Trow and Tiffany Williams — are ranked eighth in the Division.
