OF INTEREST: Rodriguez, who has been nominated by U.S. Senators John Cornyn (J.D. ’77) and Kay Bailey Hutchison to fill a pending federal judicial vacancy in San Antonio, earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard in 1983 and his law degree and master’s in public affairs from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. A product of the San Antonio Independent School District, in which St. Mary’s is located, Rodriguez served as a Justice on the Texas Supreme Court from September 2001 to November 2002.

St. Mary’s has the first Upward Bound Program in San Antonio, begun in 1967. Jacqueline Dansby, Ph.D., is the director of the program, which is designed to encourage children from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend college.
