Welcome!
In a world in which communication is central to human endeavor, the Communication Studies program connects students to great opportunities.
Our graduates, who earn the Master’s Degree in Communication, enjoy success in a range of communication professions and fields, from digital media production to public relations to organizational development to communication theory.
The curriculum extends from strengthening written and oral mastery to laying the foundation for advanced work in communication research. The program encourages the student to select classes to support one’s own interests. The program is committed to the development of leadership, and to the university’s position of national leadership in promoting an ethic of service to community and country, fostering scientific and humanistic research, and advancing social mobility.
Our diverse faculty recognizes the interdisciplinary nature of communication, and challenges students to sharpen analytical, critical, and creative skills for professional, relational, and intellectual achievement.
Students who work full-time may complete the program by taking evening courses. Advanced St. Mary’s undergraduate students, through careful planning, may complete both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in five years. A joint program with the School of Law enables students to expeditiously complete the J.D. and the Master’s in Communication.
Each student begins by working individually with the graduate director to design a program suited to the student’s specific needs, hopes, and aspirations.
We welcome you to the consideration of communication study, and encourage your questions. |
