San Antonio – Tiffany Edwards placed fourth in the Flight 3 Women’s Singles to lead St. Mary’s University at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Spring Tennis Classic last Saturday at the Yvonne Le Tennis Center.

Edwards (Sr., San Antonio) defeated Natalie Foster of Temple College in the first round of the flight. She fell to Rebecca Everett of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the third place match, 6-4, 6-1. Kelli Cooper (Fr., San Antonio) won her first collegiate match, defeating Reece Hall of Temple College, 6-4, 6-3, in Flight 2 Singles. She finished in fourth place in the flight. Erica Carmona (Fr., Converse) picked up her first collegiate win, defeating teammate Rachel Calderon (Jr., El Paso), 6-2, 7-5, in the Flight 2 Singles.

In Flight 1 Singles Vanessa Sholes (Sr., Paramaribo, Suriname) placed sixth, picking up a 6-2, 6-3, win over Mallory Aarhus of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Danielle Aranda (So., San Antonio) took seventh place in the same flight, defeating Aarhus, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Both Rattler tennis teams will return to action this Friday when they host the University of the Incarnate Word at 11 a.m. at the outdoor tennis courts. The scheduled match between the Rattlers and St. Edward’s University for today was postponed due to rain.
