San Antonio – She nearly went perfect in shooting, hitting a .900 on-goal percentage this season. But it was her perfection in the classroom that has Amy Adkins honored as a Capital One Academic All-District selection.

St. Mary’s precise forward recorded nine shots on goal out of her 10 shots on the season, banking two goals, both game-winners. Adkins (So., El Paso, Texas) is apparently more accurate in her studies as she boasts a 4.0 average in engineering – which drew CoSIDA’s attention, making her the only Rattler this season to earn the academic award.

Adkins is one of three members of the Heartland Conference to earn the award out of the District 6 Division-II pool and is the fourth Rattler in the program’s history to add an Academic All-District honor to her résumé. That includes last season’s winners, defenders Annia Olivares (El Paso, Texas) and Carolyn Martin (San Antonio).

Adkins, a forward, has also been an ideal starter, starting every game for the entirety of her freshman and sophomore seasons (37). To go along with her first career goal netted this season, Adkins can add the Capital One Academic All-District honor to her season of firsts.
