DALLAS – The ride has ended for the St. Mary’s women’s soccer team.

After advancing to the Heartland Conference Tournament semifinals, the Lady Rattlers fell 5-0 to rival St. Edward’s on Thursday, effectively ending St. Mary’s memorable season.

Kelly Servage did most of the damage, netting a hat trick as the Hilltoppers stormed to a 2-0 halftime lead before tacking on three more in the second half. Servage accounted for St. Edward’s first three goals.

Facing a defensively strong Hilltoppers team, St. Mary’s (8-8-2) couldn’t keep up such a torrid pace. Though St. Mary’s improved from its last meeting against St. Edward’s, when it got off just a single shot, the Lady Rattlers’ six shots still weren’t enough this time around.

Leah Snelson (So., Dallas), Leia Kirch (Jr., Carrollton, Texas) and Kaitie Kasperitis (So., Corpus Christi, Texas) all got off two shots apiece, but none found their way to the back of the net.

Sophomore goalkeeper Paola Ostos, an El Paso, Texas native, recorded five saves for St. Mary’s.

St. Edward’s will move on to the championship game, which will be played Saturday in Dallas.
