TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – St. Mary’s goalkeeper Paola Ostos came off the bench Sunday to pitch 96 minutes of shutout soccer, helping the Lady Rattlers battle Northeastern State to a 2-2 tie on the road.

Leah Snelson (So., Dallas) and Carolyn Martin (Jr., San Antonio), each found the back of the net in the second half for the Rattlers (4-2-2), who overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit to earn the draw.

Ostos, a sophomore from El Paso, Texas, recorded four saves in the non-conference game.

The stats sheet reflected the game’s final score, as both teams were knotted in nearly every category. The Rattlers had 13 shots to NSU’s 12; both teams managed six shots on goal; and St. Mary’s had 17 fouls to NSU’s 16.

Northeastern State needed little time to get on the board, as Renee Valcarcel struck in the third minute. Moments later, Emily Voges scored in the 11th minute.

St. Mary’s will return to the pitch on Friday, when it hosts Newman in a Heartland Conference game at 1 p.m. at Northside ISD Soccer Field.
