LAREDO, Texas – The Lady Rattlers returned to their winning ways Thursday night, leaning on Kristen Williams’ 20 points and double-digit efforts from three other players to thump Texas A&M International, 78-52, at the Kinesiology Building.

Nicole James (Sr., Indianapolis) scored 12, Liz Boyd (So., San Antonio) had 11 and Mallory Moeller (Sr., Geronimo, Texas) added 10, while Williams (Sr., Kansas City, Mo.) recorded a team-high seven rebounds to help the Lady Rattlers dominate all around.

With the victory, St. Mary’s wraps up the first half of Heartland Conference play with a league-leading 4-1 mark. Newman and Texas-Permian Basin also entered the night with one loss in conference play.

St. Mary’s (12-8, 4-1), which snapped its two-game skid, never trailed outside of a 2-0 deficit 40 seconds into the game.

The Rattlers closed out the first half on a 20-9 run to take a 45-29 advantage into the break, a sizeable lead they maintained the rest of the way. A Moeller jumper with nearly eight minutes left gave St. Mary’s its largest lead of the game at 61-47, a 26-point lead it held onto through the conclusion.

Felicia Jacobs (So., San Antonio) scored nine points on 4-of-6 shooting, while Boyd connected on 3-of-4 3-point attempts. James had seven assists for the Rattlers.

Williams’ 20 points were two off of her season high of 22, established Jan. 8 against UTPB.
