Hardly a week goes by that St. Mary’s University law Professor Gerald Reamey, J.D., isn’t sought by local media to comment on a legal issue. But every now and then a case makes headlines across the country — and national media turn to Geary, too.
The Rick Perry indictment and ensuing legal saga has kept Reamey busy. Often several times a day, he handles media requests for his knowledge and perspective of the proceedings. In the past two weeks, he has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, the American Lawyer, the Houston Chronicle, the Lubbock-Avalanche-Journal and the Dallas Morning News, as well as San Antonio print and broadcast media.
Reamey came to the St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1982, after several years in private practice. He previously was the Legal Adviser for the Police Department of the City of Irving, Texas; Chair of the Texas Association of Police Attorneys; and an Adjunct Professor of Management at the Graduate School of Management of the University of Dallas (1977-1982).
Reamey teaches primarily in the area of criminal law and procedure, but has also taught courses in constitutional law, international human rights, jurisprudence, and domestic relations, and has served as a supervising attorney in the St. Mary’s clinical program.
