The Board of Trustees must approve all such rescissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For purposes of this policy, a University honor, award or recognition includes the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An honorary degree.<\/li><li>A university honor, award or recognition.<\/li><li>An honor, award or recognition conferred by a St. Mary\u2019s University academic or administrative unit or department.<\/li><li>A university building or physical space named in honor or in memory of an individual, when no gift agreement exists in which St. Mary\u2019s University is a signatory and which would contractually prohibit removal of the individual\u2019s name from the building or physical space.<\/li><li>A university endowment named in honor or in memory of an individual, when no gift agreement exists in which St. Mary\u2019s is a signatory and which would contractually prohibit rescission of the individual\u2019s name from the endowment.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The Board of Trustees may rescind a University honor or award to or recognition of an individual in the following circumstances:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The individual has pled guilty to or been convicted of one or more felony crimes, or a credible institution or body (including St. Mary\u2019s University), following an administrative or investigative process, has determined that the individual has engaged in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>conduct that is inimical to the mission of St. Mary\u2019s University; or<\/li><li>unethical or immoral conduct, and such conduct is inimical to the mission of St. Mary\u2019s University; or<\/li><li>conduct that is incompatible with the award or honor; or<\/li><li>conduct that causes harm to the reputation of St. Mary\u2019s University.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-82","office-president","type-office-president","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Rescinding University Honors, Awards or Recognitions - Policy Library<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stmarytx.edu\/policies\/office-president\/rescinding-university-honors-awards-or-recognitions\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Rescinding University Honors, Awards or Recognitions - Policy Library\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"This policy addresses the circumstances in which the Board of Trustees may rescind a University honor or award to or recognition of an individual.
