Biography

Greg Pool, Ph.D., is a Professor in the nationally ranked Industrial/Organizational Psychology Graduate Department at St. Mary’s University where he teaches graduate courses on leadership development, assessment centers, employee selection, measurement and organizational behavior. In his roles as a scientist, educator and consultant, Pool has published peer-reviewed empirical papers, given over 50 presentations at national professional conferences, been awarded a National Science Foundation grant for his research on social norms and behavior prediction, held several professional development grants, supervised numerous Doctoral dissertations and Master’s theses, and serves as a member of the editorial board for the journal Social Influence.

Throughout his career, Pool has worked to identify the scientific mechanisms behind influence, power, leadership and organizational culture and then apply this understanding to organizational transformation and success. His current research interests focus on organizational culture, and misbehavior and aggression in the workplace.

Pool was awarded St. Mary’s Distinguished Faculty Award in 2014 and the University of Texas at Arlington, College of Science Teaching Award in 2004. He is an active member of the Society of Industrial Organizational Psychology, SHRM, the Academy of Management, the San Antonio Human Resource Management Association and the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.

Pool earned his bachelor’s degree from Austin College, and his master’s and doctoral degrees in Psychology from Texas A&M University.
