Biography

Rafael Moras, Ph.D., P.E., joined St. Mary’s University in 1990. He earned his bachelor’s in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Monterrey Tech (Mexico).

His master’s and doctoral degrees in the areas of Operations Research and Industrial Engineering are from The University of Texas at Austin. His main research interests are sequencing and scheduling and professional ethics.

Moras has published articles in engineering journals such as Production and Inventory Management Journal, the Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computation, Production Planning and Control, and International Journal of Industrial Engineering. He is a sought-after speaker and has delivered papers and keynote presentations in more than 50 national and international professional conferences. He offers consulting services and workshops in the areas of lean and six-sigma quality, professional ethics and the delivery of effective presentations.

Moras is the director of the Engineering Systems Management and the Industrial Engineering graduate programs. He also served as director of the Pre-Freshman Engineering Program at St. Mary’s from 1992-1999 and 2005-2013, and at the University of Texas San Antonio from 2002-2004.

Moras is also a choir director and piano player at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and has composed three musical plays. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio.
