Continuing Studies to Offer Career Coach Course

San Antonio area career professionals interested in earning career counseling certification will be able to take classes through a new class in the St. Mary’s University Continuing Studies Program.

St. Mary’s University is partnering with the Certified Career Practitioner Institute (CCPI) to offer the career coaching course. The 10-week program features 60 hours of class instruction, which start Oct. 6, with either evening or Saturday options available. “St. Mary’s University believes that life-long education is a cornerstone of professional and personal development,” said Robin Thedford, St. Mary’s director of continuing studies. “By offering this exciting new program, we will offer a variety of professionals the opportunity to further their own professional development while providing a valuable service to their employees or clients.”

“We are facing explosive job trends across the nation, and there is a huge shortage of certified career coaches nationwide,” said Linda M. Ginac, Ginac Group chief executive officer and founder of CCPI.  “This joint effort equips students with the specialized skills to become well-trained professionals who can address an increasing population with career issues.”

CCPI will certify professionals after they complete the program requirements, which includes classes that help students understand the competencies involved in career coaching and trains them in the use of a proven method for delivery. Students also have the opportunity to participate in an apprentice program at CCPI to practice their new career coaching skills.

The Certified Career Practitioner Institute is a leading organization for the career development profession. CCPI is actively engaged in advocacy for the profession, setting professional standards, and providing access to a wealth of resources. CCPI offers certification, professional development, networking and community involvement opportunities.  For more information, visit www.careerpractitioner.com.
