The upcoming installment of Community Conversations at St. Mary’s will feature journalist and photographer Krista Schlyer, who will speak on “Bringing Environmental Sustainability and Justice to the U.S.-Mexico Border.”
Schlyer is the author of “Continental Divide: Wildlife, People and the Border Wall,” which was a 2012 Southwest Book of the Year.
She’ll be joined by guests David Turner, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Physics and Earth Sciences at St. Mary’s, and Srikanto H. Paul, Executive Director of the St. Mary’s University Office of Risk Management. The conversation will be moderated by Evelynn Mitchell, Ph.D., Director of the Environmental Science program at St. Mary’s.
The event will be Tuesday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. with a reception at 6 o’clock. After the program, there will be a question and answer session with the audience. Community Conversations will be held on the St. Mary’s campus in the University Center, Conference Room A. The event is free and open to the public.
The Community Conversations series is a part of the Institute for Public Administration, Politics and Public Policy at St. Mary’s University, which is housed within the St. Mary’s Graduate School. One of the primary goals of the Institute is to develop outreach programs that foster dialogue between the University, the public, government agencies and nonprofits to address important public issues.
