Congratulations, you’re a Rattler! As you prepare for graduate studies at St. Mary’s University there are some important details, dates and tasks to keep in mind. We invite you to review the information below to prepare to review your degree requirements, register for classes, touch base with your Program Director, submit important forms, address your student account and prepare to begin your graduate career at St. Mary’s University.

As a member of the St. Mary’s University student population, all currently enrolled students are eligible for services at the Student Health Center. Those students who attend classes on campus and/or live in our graduate residence hall may need to satisfy additional health insurance and immunization requirements.

St. Mary’s University is pleased to offer housing for graduate and law students in Chaminade Tower at a competitive rate and added convenience for our graduate students. Chaminade Tower was recently renovated and provides individual suite-style rooms (where you share a bathroom with another resident) with graduate students in mind. For students accepted to St. Mary’s University and seeking a F-1/J-1 Visa, please complete the I-20 Request Form. The information and documents detailed below is needed to complete your visa packet. Please note that students are expected to submit all information detailed below unless otherwise noted.
For Transfer International Students:
If your spouse or children will be joining you during your time in San Antonio, Texas as you pursue your graduate degree, please submit the following along with your I-20 packet:
St. Mary’s University will not be able to process I-20/DS-2019 requests until a complete application for admission and all the required documentation with your packet is received. It will take St. Mary’s approximately 14 days to create your I-20/DS-2019.
I-20 forms are sent by regular postage (no tracking number) to the address indicated in your I-20 Request Form. If an updated dress is not included in this request form, the information will be sent to the address on file with your application for admission. Please note that if a mail or forwarding address is not available, St. Mary’s will default delivery to your permanent address.
If you are currently in the San Antonio, Texas area and would like to pick up your I-20 paperwork in-person, a photo ID and an advance appointment is required. Students may email us to authorize another individual to pick up the I-20 on their behalf. The student must provide their full name & id number, and the full name of the person authorized to pick up the I-20. Each authorization is a one-time use only. Again, a photo id is required.
FERPA and SEVP regulations prohibit the release of information and/or documentation without prior written consent from the individual in question, even if said individual is family (spouse, child, etc.).
Students who would like to receive their I-20 by courier service may create an account with Eship Global online. This service provides courier shipping from major providers (FedEx for example) at a reduced cost. Payments must be made by credit card (Mastercard, Visa, or American Express), and students must have their St. Mary’s University student ID number to create an account. Please note that the Eship Global website works best with Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
To assist with your transition to St. Mary’s University, attend the International Student Check-in and the University Orientation for Graduate Students. The scheduled date and time of the International Student Check-In for new students enrolling for the Summer 2017 is Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 2pm in the University Center, Conference Room A and for students enrolling in the Fall 2017, International Student Check-In is Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, in the University Center, Conference Room A.
