With her roots from the north of India, born in the heart of Africa, educated in England and Canada, Shamila Behal is delighted and honored to be a part of the St. Mary’s University family.
Behal comes from years of working in corporate America with American Express and Deloitte & Co., both in New York City and London. For the past six years, she has shared her accounting knowledge through teaching accounting and finance courses at Trinity University, UTSA, Alamo Colleges and Southern New Hampshire University. However, accounting and finances is not all that she does. Behal has served on several boards, both as a trustee and in an advisory capacity, in education and the arts. Furthermore, Behal is very involved in the World Affairs Council and the downtown chapter of Rotary International, where she is a Paul Harris recipient.
Behal is a certified public accountant through the Texas Board of CPAs, as well as a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
When Behal isn’t helping the world or educating the youths, she enjoys walks and catching up on local, domestic and international news.
Behal has resided in San Antonio since 1994, and has six children, three dogs and a cat.
