Biography

Patricia Gonzalez Darriba holds an M.A. in Translation and Interpreting, an M.A. in Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition and a Ph.D. in Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition, all from Rutgers University. Gonzalez Darriba teaches Spanish and Translation courses and is one of the founding members of the community outreach organization RUBilingual, an organization that disseminates the benefits of being bilingual and debunks the many myths associated with speaking more than one language.

Gonzalez Darriba’s research focuses on applied linguistics, psycholinguistics and translation pedagogy. Her dissertation explores the effects of working memory, inhibitory control, academic training and professional experience on the translation of self-directed motion by English-Spanish translators and non-translator bilinguals.
