Biography

Master Sgt. Jason C. Ramirez I was born on Oct. 18, 1980, in Tarzana, California. He graduated high school from Palmdale High in 1999.

Ramirez enlisted in the United States Army on April 27, 2000, and completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

His previous assignment positions and deployments include Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment (FAR) in Fort Hood, where he was assigned as an Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Gunner; and Bravo Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th FAR in Fort Sill, where he was assigned as a section chief. Ramirez deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF 3) with Bravo Battery from 2005 to 2006 as a convoy security.

Afterwards, he was deployed with Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13 FAR from 2008 to 2009 as 31E and 31B as Military Police section chief for detainee operation at Camp Bucca, Iraq. He was then assigned 2nd Battalion, 20th FAR, as Platoon Sergeant for a MLRS Platoon, from 2009 to 2012. Ramirez later was assigned to the 17th Fires Brigade where he served as the Brigade Master Gunner from 2012 to 2015, then to the HHB, 2nd Battalion, 20th FAR in Fort Sill as 1st Sgt. from 2015 to 2018. Ramirez is currently serving as the Senior Military Instructor for St. Mary’s University.

His military schools and training include Senior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Warrior Leader Course, Battle Staff, Digital Master Gunner Course, Sexual Harassment Assault Response Program Course, Field Artillery Master Gunner, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Level 1 Training for Army Combatives, Commander/First Sergeant Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Technical Transportation of Hazardous Material and Combat Lifesaver Course.

Ramirez is married to Michelle (née McCain) of Des Moines, Iowa. They have a two-year-old daughter, Isabelle Marie.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Unit Citation, five Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, six Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Three Silver Stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon Number 3, Army Service Medal, three Overseas Medals and Combat Action Badge.

Ramirez is also the recipient of the Prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Medallion and the Order of Saint Barbara Award.
