Mary Wagner-Krankel, Ph.D., has the distinction of being the first woman to teach full-time in the mathematics department at St. Mary’s University (1992). She had taught previously at Hardin-Simmons University, University of Texas at Austin and Ohio  University.

Wagner-Krankel became chair of St. Mary’s Mathematics Department in 2000, serving until 2014 when she returned to full-time teaching.
