Biography

As the chair of the Military Science Department at St. Mary's University, Lt. Col. John Lankford sets high academic and physical training standards for all students enrolled in the Military Science program.

Lankford assumed position as the Professor of Military Science at St. Mary’s University in May 2015. After enlisting in the Army in 1990, Lankford completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and advanced individual training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He received his commission through the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 2002 and is a graduate of Austin Peay State University and the University of Kansas.

Commissioned into the Quartermaster Corps, Lankford has held a variety of duty positions from the tactical to strategic levels to include: Supply Support Activity Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Battalion Maintenance Officer, Company Commander, Battalion Operations Officer, Test Support Officer, Aide-de-camp, Supply and Services Chief, Support Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer.

Lankford is married to the former Sharron Wilson and they reside in San Antonio with their two Labradors retrievers, Chase and Trooper.
