Charles F. McAleer III is currently an Adjunct Professor of Marketing in the Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. He has been on the faculty since 2009. He has also been a part-time Adjunct Professor of Economics, Business, Marketing, and Risk Management at four other colleges and universities. He has been published in financial services industry magazines, periodicals, and newsletters.
Prior to joining the faculty at the Greehey School of Business, McAleer had a 40 year marketing career in the financial services industry. He retired as senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer for Mutual Trust Financial Group in Oak Brook, Illinois, as well as being the president of the holding company's brokerage company and board member of its broker dealer.
Additionally, McAleer currently practices as a certified forensic consultant and expert witness for Robert Hughes Associates, Inc. specializing in life and health insurance, employee benefits, critical illness, agency standards and practices, producer contract due diligence, field force distribution systems (IMO, MGA, career agency, independent agents), Medicare, TRICARE, federal employee health care benefits, and health care litigation. He is a Certified Forensic Consultant (CFC), and Diplomate; both designations confirmed by The American College of Forensic Examiners Institute. He has produced expert reports in cases representing both the plaintiff and defendant in addition to consulting, testifying and being deposed in several cases.
McAleer holds both a bachelor and master degree in economics from St. Mary’s University, and further pursued his doctoral studies in higher education at the University of Denver. He has seven professional designations and three securities licenses. He also holds a Texas insurance license and is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon National Honor Society in Economics.
Prior to entering the financial services industry, McAleer was an officer in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 with the 1-50th Infantry Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade. He is the recipient of several combat and meritorious awards to include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Infantry Association’s Order of St. Maurice. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and retired from the US Army reserves holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
McAleer has served on the Board of Directors for Guide Dogs of Texas, Inc., The San Antonio Masters Leadership Program Alumni Association and the San Antonio Northeast YMCA. He is also a board member and treasurer for the First Battalion, 50th Infantry Association Inc.
